The First Visit  (30 min)

When you arrive you’ll be greeted by our friendly front desk staff who will take you to a comfortable room and let the doctor know you’ve arrived.

Dr. Neely or Dr. Shulman will take a full health history and do a thorough exam explaining their findings to you along the way. (You don’t need to undress or put a gown on). Our patients find they get so much information that helps them put puzzle pieces together during this visit. The doctor will then determine whether you require X-rays in order to gather more information. All of our X-rays are taken at London X-ray and are at no fee if you have an Ontario Health Card.

Will I get an adjustment on the first visit?

We get this question a lot, and we’ll do our best to make it happen.  The doctors will provide you with as much relief as possible, but may need to wait for the X-ray results in order to do a complete adjustment. If you don’t require X-rays, the doctor will go over all of their exam findings with you, give you an adjustment and discuss an appointment schedule.

The Second Visit

If you’ve gone for X-rays, the doctor will review them with you and answer all of your questions such as: How did this happen and how can you keep it from returning? How often will you need to be adjusted? Are there things you should or shouldn’t do?

And most importantly: When will you begin to feel better? This usually happens very quickly. The doctors will schedule a progress report soon after you begin care to monitor the results they’re expecting.

Chiropractor talking to a patient

We’ve answered some of the most common additional questions below.

Don’t see your question? Contact us and we’ll get right back to you!

What techniques do you use in your office?

In our office we have 3 techniques available.

-Manual Adjustments
-Activator (a gentle handheld instrument)
-Network Spinal Analysis

If you’ve seen a chiropractor before and have a preference please let us know, otherwise we’ll ensure you receive the type of care that’s best for you.

Once I go to a chiropractor do I have to keep going?

Absolutely not. How long you decide to benefit from care is always up to you. We’re here to help, and your goals always come first.

Does my insurance cover chiropractic?

Likely yes! Our trained insurance specialist will be able to review your insurance details and let you know the most efficient way to receive its benefits. Our patients pay us directly and then in most cases we can bill their insurance for them online immediately, and the funds are returned to them within 24-48 hrs.

Some insurance companies are not set up for online billing yet, in that case, we will provide you with receipts to submit for reimbursement.

Will chiropractic help my posture?

Absolutely! The hunched forward position most people spend too much time in leads to locked spinal joints, ribs that won’t allow you to take a deep breath, strained muscles and a hump at the base of your neck.

New patients often explain that they try to sit straight… but they can’t hold the position very long without pain or tension.

We love the look on people’s faces when they have these areas unlocked for the first time. They sit tall, breathe deeply and feel the tension melt away.

Do adjustments hurt?

Adjustments are painless.

How will I feel after an adjustment?

The most common things we hear are:

“Wow, I can breathe deeper.”
“I feel so much lighter.”
“I’m sleeping better!”

Some patients report achiness (as if they worked out too hard) after their first adjustment. That’s completely normal and applying cold for 20 min usually alleviates it.

Do you see patients with scoliosis?

Yes, in fact Dr. Shulman is an expert in this area because she has a scoliosis herself. She’s living proof that you can live a heathy, active lifestyle with a scoliosis.

We’ll not only help relieve your symptoms but also offer some simple lifestyle suggestions to ensure your spine stays healthy for life.

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Chiropractic is not only safe, it’s recommended by most midwives to ensure a painless pregnancy and an easier birth for both you and your baby.

The doctors vary their techniques depending on the stage of pregnancy you’re in and we have a special pillow to make you more comfortable.

Can I continue to workout while I receive chiropractic care?

In most cases, yes. However, we do not advise intense workouts immediately after adjustments, especially when beginning care, the body needs time to heal.

We encourage our patients to return to their activities as quickly as possible and we often add specialized rehabilitative exercises and stretches to their routine for maximum results.

Do you see people who have been in car accidents?

Yes, our office is set up for online insurance billing for all car accident cases. Because we are a multi-disciplinary office, we provide both chiropractic and massage to ensure rapid, complete healing. Victoria is our motor vehicle expert who will help you fill out your paperwork (and let you know which parts are required) and she can speak to your adjuster directly if you have any questions.
