Your First Chiropractic Appointment
Is this your first time seeing a chiropractor?
We’re excited for you!
Have you seen a chiropractor regularly and want to continue with your care?
Great! If you have been under regular care the doctor will likely be able to adjust you on your first visit. We will still need 30-45 minutes to catch us up on your full case history, the types of adjustments you have received, and any health goals you are working towards.
On first visit (30-40 min long):
You will be greeted as you come in by either Jess, Tarin or Katie. They will offer you some tea, and let you know when it is time to meet the doctor.
On your first visit the doctor will:
-Take a complete history
-Discuss your health goals
-Perform a thorough, painless examination
If x-rays are necessary, they will recommend them at this point. (If you have an Ontario health card there is no fee for the Xrays). They are taken at any of the 5 London Xray locations.
The doctors know that you want to feel better quickly. If they’re able to begin any adjustments to provide relief on this appointment they will. If it is best to wait for your Xrays they will provide you with action steps you can begin at home whenever possible.
Follow up appointment/Xray review
If you have been sent for Xrays on this appointment the doctor will review your X-rays with you and discuss the cause of your symptoms. Patients are always shown their own x-rays and are encouraged to ask questions.
Before beginning any care we review what caused your issues, explain what needs to be done, go over how long it will take for you to start to feel better (often quicker than people expect) and discuss what you can do to ensure symptoms don’t return.
Whether you have symptoms that are keeping you from feeling your best, or want to achieve optimum health at any age, we will ensure your care is personalized, effective…and even fun! We want you to look forward to your visits.

Some common Q&A:
Once I go to a chiropractor do I have to keep going?
Absolutely not. How long you decide to benefit from chiropractic is always up to you.
Can I use my insurance to pay for my care?
Yes! Our trained insurance specialists will be able to review your insurance details and let you know the most efficient way to receive its benefits. Our patients pay us directly and then in most cases we can bill their insurance for them online immediately, and the funds are returned to them within 24-48hrs.
Some insurance companies are not set up for online billing yet, in that case we will provide you with reciepts to submit for reimbursement.
Do you see poeple who have been in car accidents?
Yes, our office is set up for online insurance billing for all car accident cases. Because we are a multi-disciplinary office, we provide both chiropractic and massage to ensure rapid, complete healing. Jessica is our motor vehicle expert who will help you fill out your paperwork (and let you know which parts are required) and she can speak to your adjuster directly if you have any questions.
Do adjustments hurt?
Adjustments are painless. Sometimes when you begin getting adjustments within 24 hours it feels like you went to the gym. That is completely normal as the body heals.
Is everyne adjusted the same?
Every patient is unique, which is why it is so important that our chiropractors have training in many different techniques that help our patients heal as quickly and comfortably as possible. We do not believe in “one size fits all” chiropractic.
Depending on the specifics of the case the chiropractors use one or a combination of the following techniques :
- · Diversified (manual adjustments)
- · Activator Technique (a gentle instrument adjustment)
- · Network Spinal Analysis (using a gentle touch and breathing)
- · Specialized Stretches and Exercises
The goal is always to allow you to heal as quickly and comfortably as possible. After a through history, examination and possible Xrays your chiropractor will discuss what technique(s) they suggest for you.
Along with chiropractic care, the doctors will discuss posture and self-care that may include heat, ice, ideal sitting or sleeping positions, proper pillow selection and exercises or stretches that fit each individual’s lifestyle.
Can I continue to workout while I receive chiropractic care?
In most cases, yes. However, we do not advise intense workouts immediately after adjustments, especially when beginning care, the body needs time to heal. We encourage our patients to return to their activities as quickly as possible and we often add specialized rehabilitative exercises and stretches to their routine for maximum results.
The goal is to allow you to feel your best so that you can be as active as you want to be, we don’t want you to give up the sports or hobbies you love. We encourage all of our patients to move as much as their busy lives allow them to.
How long does it take to become a chiropractor?
A chiropractor’s education is the same length as a general practitioner. Chiropractors do a minimum of 3 years undergraduate work followed by 4 years of chiropractic schooling.(7 years!) In fact, chiropractic education is so extensive, chiropractors are one of the very few professionals who have the knowledge to diagnose patients, read Xrays and are given the title doctor.
